The artists combine their quest for a variety of tone colours and moods with intense expression, dynamism, and energy of the created programmes. They arrange all pieces by themselves, thanks to which they feel at ease in a wide repertoire – from Renaissance, through Baroque and Classicism, to Romanticism. They search for works forgotten in old prints and manuscripts to reproduce their likely forms and sound and then reintroduce them to the concert repertoire.
Their musical imagination makes them feel as comfortable in Italian, English, or German works as in pieces by native composers. They carefully prepare their programmes, as a result of which the listeners can expect a well-thought-out narrative. . Their concerts are always a musical adventure at the highest artistic level.
The ensemble performs at prestigious concerts and festivals; its foreign debut in May 2024 in the Berlin Konzerthaus was enthusiastically received.
In 2023, the DUX record label released the ensemble’s debut album entitled Clori, 1622, launching the publishing series Music From 400 Years Ago, which is continued by these albums.
A singer specialising in early music performance. Graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań as well as of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Law). In 2023, she obtained the title of Doctor of Arts.
Former scholarship holder of the Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in the field of culture. She made her operatic debut in the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss at the Musical Theatre in Poznań, where she was a soloist for 12 years. She has performed the parts of, among others, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Arsena in The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss, Valencienne in The Merry Widow by Franz Lehár, and many others.
Over time, she focused on the historically informed performance of early music. She works with outstanding Baroque ensembles: {oh!} Orkiestra, Arte dei Suonatori, or Ensemble Peregrina, performing in cantata and oratorio works as well as a soloist in chamber ensembles she has created. Anna gives concerts in Poland and abroad, taking part in prestigious music festivals – she has performed solo recitals in, among others, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, and Lithuania.
An active organiser of cultural life; since 2016, she has been the President of the Świat Możliwości [A World of Possibilities] Foundation. In addition, she is the originator and Artistic Director of the On the Gothic Route in Western Poland Festival as well as of the concert series Personal Music Encounters at the EDGE Music Studio in Poznań and Classical Music in the Open Air in Mosin.
He graduated with honours from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the lute class of dr hab. Henryk Kasperczak and in the guitar class of Prof. Jerzy Nalepka as well as from the State University of Applied Sciences in Leszno (Art Education). He has been honing his skills at numerous masterclasses in the field of early and contemporary music performance.
In his artistic activities, in addition to performing solo music on period lutes and guitars, he focuses on chamber music and basso continuo realisation. He works with leading early music ensembles, for example, Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense, Capella Regia Polona, Capella Jenensis, Goldberg Baroque Ensemble, Consortium Sedinum, European Union Baroque Orchestra, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and with such musical personalities as Enrico Onofri, Paul Esswood, Bruno Cocset, or Vincenzo Capezzuto.
He has taken part in broadcasts produced by Polish Radio and TVP Kultura. Since 2017, music albums with his participation have been released on a regular basis. Since 2014, he has co-organised the Shortest Night of Wojciech Długoraj Festival, which is the only cyclical event in Poland devoted to lute music.
Maciej Kończak used to be a lecturer at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź and the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where he is currently a doctoral student.
He promotes conscious historically informed performance and is a valued guitar teacher, awarded many times for outstanding preparation of his pupils and students for national and international guitar competitions.
Lute player, composer, paleographer, educator. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in the Toyohiko Satoh lute class and the Academy of Music in Krakow and musicology at the A. Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Assistant Professor at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań.
Recognised with the Decoration of Honour Meritorious for Polish Culture. The artist performs basso continuo with the Warsaw Chamber Opera and the Dramma Per Musica Association in the Baroque opera repertoire. He highly values his cooperation with the Il Tempo Baroque Instruments Ensemble under the direction of Agata Sapieha.
The author of the book “Lutnia renesansowa dawniej i dziś. Synteza stylów, form i środków wykonawczych w twórczości Toyohiko Satoha [Renaissance Lute Then and Now. Synthesis of Styles, Forms, and Performance Means in the Output of Toyohiko Satoh]”, the Studium techniki lutniowej [Study of Lute Technique] textbook, and articles in the field of musical palaeography. He reconstructs and co-edits the publication of complete works in the Thesaurus Chori Saganensis series. Together with Andrzej Szadejko, he reconstructed the scores from the manuscripts of the Gdańsk Library published in the Musica Baltica series. Author of over 200 lute compositions.
He works with young people by co-creating the International Festival of Early Culture and the Early Music Competition in Malbork. He performs contemporary and entertainment music on period instruments, among others, progressive rock with Amaryllis and Pospolite Ruszenie, jazz with Maciej Fortuna’s band, and poetic songs with Jacek Kowalski, Mirosław Czyżykiewicz, and Bartek Marusik.
